How to obtain the criminal record certificate?

It is important to keep in mind that the institution or reason for which they are requested does not change the way of managing to obtain it, they will always be the same steps.

Obtaining the certificate is easy, you only need to have an internet connection and spend some time completing the fields requested in the application.

The processing time can be from six (6) hours to five (5) business days, this depends on the economic disposition with which you have, the good news is that there are options, and if you plan ahead of time, the cost can be accessible.

These options are chosen when carrying out the procedure via the Internet.

The costs are related to the time in which it is required to obtain the certificate, since a Common procedure takes 5 business days and has the lowest cost, the urgent procedure takes twenty-four (24) hours and can double the cost of the previous one and a Very Urgent processing takes six (6) hours and the cost is a little more than triple the common one.

The validity of the criminal record certificate will depend on the organization that requests it, because in some places they specify that the date of issue is not greater than three (3) months, in this case, this information must be handled prior to processing. and make the calculation of time so that when it is presented it is valid and avoid its rejection.

Steps to follow

Since 2017, the RNR National Registry of Recidivism portal was enabled, to carry out the process online or over the internet, avoiding being present and collapsing the entity’s dependencies:

Enter the Form National Registry of Recidivism and select among the options offered, the one that best suits you to carry out the process:

  • Via internet or online: it takes 5 minutes.
  • In person: if there is an RNR unit in the city where it is located
  • By Postal Mail: if there is no RNR headquarters or internet connection

Via internet or online:

  1. Access the website of the National Registry of Recidivismselect “Private procedures”.
  2. Then select «remote procedure».
  3. Complete the fields requested in the form, with personal data and bank details.
  4. Press «consult» to pay the procedure
  5. Select the payment option, remembering that you must be the holder of the bank account
  6. Once the payment is processed, your request is made

You will then receive an email to your email address, indicating that the payment was processed and indicating the date and time in which the criminal record certificate will be available. You will also receive an application and security code that will give you access to your certificate.

It is important to remember that the time to receive the e-mail could be related to the time that must be completed according to the cost of the procedure you have selected (common, urgent, very urgent).

To access your certificate:

  1. Access to National Registry of Recidivism .
  2. Press the option «access your Criminal Record certificate».
  3. Press the «Remote Procedure» button.
  4. Enter the requested codes.
  5. Press «Consult» and the Criminal Record Certificate will be shown to you, download it, review it and print it when you consider convenient.

In person

  1. Access to «National Registry of Recidivism“, select “Start procedure”, choose the province and locality.
  2. If there is an RNR office, the address where the offices and opening hours are located will be shown, choose the one that best suits you.

In most of the venues they must request or take the appointment via internet, for this, click on «Book appointment and continue», select the appointment and enter the requested information.

  • Select the type of procedure (common, urgent, very urgent)

  • Click “next” and then “finish”
  • With the printed application you will make the payment, according to the selected modality.
  • Show up at the headquarters, on the date and time assigned when requesting the appointment or shift.
  • Submit the «Criminal Record Certificate Request Form or Form» with the original and a copy of the valid and legible identity document (ID card, passport or nationality certificate).
  • They will take your fingerprints there.

Having performed the steps above, you will now be able to obtain your certificate:

  1. The person who provided the services will deliver the «Criminal Record Procedure Document».
  2. Wait for the term to expire according to the cost paid for the procedure

  • Select «Download Application»

The file to download has three pages:
