What if my Height Certificate does not appear?

In order to specify all the reasons why the certificate could not be found on the indicated page, we have:

  • The program is not found or was not registered in Training Centers when you did it. For this reason it is not in the system, which means that you will have to do it again in one that is enabled.
  • Even those in charge of carrying out the administrative matters of the course they have not uploaded the certificate to the page. These have up to five (05) business days to upload it on the Minwork page, so watch out!
  • You did not pass the course and they didn’t tell you. In this case you must call and confirm.
  • Finally, the certificate is expired. Once you have completed the course, you can use your certificate for a whole year. After this time, you will have to do a retraining. This lasts twelve (12) hours and you can consult it in Resolution 1409.

It is important to note that in addition to your resume, it would be incredible if you delivered the certificate issued by the training center together with it. One can be the substitute for the other, but also the complement.

Course to obtain the Certificate of Heights

Depending on the position for which you are applying or aspire to have, you must carry out the corresponding Height Training Course. As we said before, this must be done in a center endorsed by the Ministry of Labor. However, we have decided to tell you a little more about it.

First of all, you will most likely have to provide the following documents to access the program:

  • Original and copy of the identity document. In the case of photocopying, it must be enlarged to 150%.
  • Occupational Medical Fitness Certificate. This must indicate that the worker is qualified to carry out work at height. This document is vital not only to attend the Center, but to enter the position.
  • Passport-type photo.
  • Copy of the settlement before Social Security.
  • Respective registration form.

With these documents you should go to the Center you have chosen to complete the registration process. Also, you should know that you can take two levels:

Basic Level of Safe Work at Heights

It is only required for those workers who are exposed to work of minimum height, that is, a height that is not greater than 1.50 meters. This includes those who work on platforms that are properly constructed with guardrails to ensure worker safety.

Training should be supervised by SENA, if possible, but it can be done at any Center endorsed by the Ministry of Labor, as we have already said.

The duration of this level can be up to ten (10) hours, with a theoretical-practical methodology 40% and 60%, for each.

Advanced Level of Safe Work at Heights

The Advanced level It is designed for workers who are going to work at heights that exceed 1.50 meters, and that many times involve a certain risk of accident.

It may be construction jobs, for example, where workers have to expose themselves to very high altitudes in order to build the infrastructure.

This one has a duration of at least forty (40) hours, with a theoretical-practical methodology. Sometimes it may take longer, even twice as long, to train the Coordinators, which have the role of detecting risks and dangers in work at height.

Also, sometimes there is a Intermediate level that must be complemented by a retraining process to reach this level.

Retraining

Of course, you should also do the retraining course annually, in accordance with the provisions of the Resolution 1409, for the worker to refresh risk control techniques and acquire new ones.

This one has a duration of 20 hours approximately and allows to continue with the validity of the Height Certificate.

Furthermore, already mentioning the Types of Certificate of HeightsYou should know that there is only one, but this will reflect the level of training you are in.

Why is the Height Certificate Important?

As a way of concretizing the Importance of the Certificate of Heights, We have that this serves as a way to prove that the worker has enough training to perform work at a certain height.

He can analyze situations to determine the risk level at That is exhibiting and thus making use of the necessary maneuvers to reduce that risk.

It is a vital document to prove that the worker has this ability, this knowledge, and that therefore their safety and well-being can be guaranteed to a certain extent when carrying out work.

In fact, according to Art. 40 of the Resolution 1409, the worker is responsible for:

  • Participate in the trainings that the employer schedules and also approve them.
  • Attend the retraining.
  • Be up to date with the health and safety protocol established by the employer.
  • Let the employer know if there is any health condition that may negatively affect performance at work, putting not only their own health at risk, but also that of their colleagues.
  • Make use of the fall protection and prevention measures.
  • Inform the coordinator of detection of damage to the prevention and protection systems against falls, as well as their deterioration.
  • Follow the rules of the work permit at heights.

By presenting this certificate, it is assumed that all these measures are being followed by the worker.

Who Needs the Certificate of Heights?

Who needs the Certificate of Heights? Well, according to the resolution that we have already mentioned numerous times, the people who must be in charge of the certification process are:

  • Companies of various kinds.
  • Contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Workers
  • Employers.

Each of these must analyze whether they will be carried out work that has to be done at a certain height that involves a risk of accident. If the answer is yes, then you have to request this document.

These are generally the companies that operate in the telecommunications, construction, maintenance, transportation area and hydrocarbons and mining. They must request the certificate from those who are going to hire or offer training courses that can be endorsed in the Minwork.

Thus, in the maintenance area, we can find that maintenance companies can hire workers who need to work in an amusement park, many of which require working at a high altitude.

Or perhaps this same park will hire them, for which you must request the certificate. To conclude, anyone who is going to work at height, with risk of falling, must process the Height Certificate.

Certifying entities in Colombia

So that the Height Certificate can be used, it must come from a program registered in Training Centers of the Ministry of Labor. This is a mandatory requirement, an aspect that you must take into account when you go to do the training course.

The same works if you have already done it, to confirm that the center where you did it is endorsed by the ministry. You just have to enter the List of Training Centers that this entity has issued and, if you wish, search for the one that interests you by its name.

There are currently 392 registered organizations, which means that there are numerous options to choose from. You will be able to find the address and the status, if it is open or not.

What is it?

The Height Certificate It is a document that allows the bearer to prove that he has the necessary training to perform tasks at a certain height. Learn about the maneuvers that allow you to reduce the risk of falls, as well as the prevention and safety protocol.

This document must be issued by a Entertainment center endorsed by the Ministry of Labor, subsequent approval of the course. Likewise, you can consult and download it on the page of this entity, using the link that we have provided.
