What are the Requirements to Apply for COAR?

To begin with, the first aspect that we must touch on the COAR es: the necessary requirements to apply. Each institution requests a series of requirements, procedures or mandatory documents that you must present, in order to aspire to be part of them.   • You should have occupied one of the first ten (10) positions in the academic index of first or second grade of high school at your institution. You can also participate in academic competitions endorsed by the Ministry of Education and try to get in one of the first three places.
  • You should have completed your first two years of high school in a public educational institution of regular secondary education.
  • You have to have foreign nationality; but also you can have foreign nationalityOnly that you will need to present the documents required by the authorities.
  • You have to have reached 15 years of age, at the latest until March 31 of the year in which you will apply to the admission process
  • Have a written authorization by parents or legal representatives.

On the other hand, there are two considerations that must be taken into account for this type of procedure, which are:

  1. If a student who meets these requirements declines to participate in the process, this does not qualify the next highest ranked student. That is, the quotas cannot be transferred or run on the list.
  2. If there is a tie between the students in the list of positions of their institutions, all those involved in the tie become part of the admission process.

How to Apply for COAR?

Once we have talked about the requirements to apply for COAR, we must touch on the subject of application, how it is done. Applying for COAR can be a long process, but it will surely be worth it.

Registration by Parents or Representatives

In these cases, when the person in charge of registering are the parents or legal representatives, the steps to be followed are the following:

  • Parents or guardians must first ensure that their children meet the admission requirements.
  • If the children meet the requirements, the parents or guardians must enter the web platform of the COAR Single Admission Process, to enter your data and register the application.
  • Once the platform has validated the registration request, it issues a record of it. (Be sure to keep that record).

Attention! In the event that the platform does not manage to validate the registration, you will be notified and will be notified of the new steps to follow to correct the problems presented.

UGEL Specialist Process

  1. The person in charge of the child’s registration must go through the tables of the Local Educational Management Unit (UGEL) corresponding, and present the following precautions:

  • The full name of the applicant (the boy or girl).
  • The National Identity Document, the birth certificate or the immigration card and passport, of the child and his representatives or parents, as appropriate.
  • The domicile address of the applicant.
  • The name and address of the source IE.
  • The student code.
  • The sworn statements found on the institution’s website, signed by the parents or representatives.
  • Specify the High Performance College to which you are going to apply.
  1. Once the UGEL person receives the application, they must verify that the registration form is completed correctly.
  2. Finally, the person must register the applicant on the website of the Single Admission Process, to issue the certificate and deliver it to the person designated to register the applicant.

Admission process

In this section of the article we will talk about the second stage of the admission process, since the first stage -which deals with the application process- is mentioned in the previous paragraphs. Now, What is this second stage of the Admission Process about? Then This is the evaluative part of the process.

This part is intended to precisely assess the capabilities and abilities of each applicant who has submitted to COAR. The process is divided into two phases: a written evaluation and a convivial evaluation.

First phase

The first phase of this process it’s about the written evaluation, that is, you have to take an exam. For this first phase all applicants who meet the established requirements participate by the program. In addition, the test is a simple evaluation that seeks to evaluate the capabilities of applicants in: cognitive skills and social-emotional skills. In the end, the test lasts for three (3) hours between both parties.

  • Adaptive capacities.

Second stage

On this occasion, a more personal, verbal and social evaluation will be applied to evaluate the socio-emotional abilities of the applicants. An experiential day (30 minutes) and an interview (20 minutes) will be used for the evaluations.

In the case of the experiential journey, the following aspects are being evaluated:

  • Creativity.
  • Assertive communication.
  • Active listening.
  • Proactivity.

In the case of the interview, The following aspects are being evaluated:

  • Motivation.
  • Coping with stress.
