The American visa is a document granted by the United States embassy in Bolivia and in other countries of the world to those who wish to enter United States territory, this is done with the purpose of controlling the entry and transit of immigrants in said country. The general documents required for the application of any type of American visa in Bolivia are the following:
- Valid passport with at least six months validity or, failing that, the time spent in the United States must exceed six months (with the exception of those applicants who are exempt for some reason within the framework of specific agreements in their country).
- The international identification document (Passport) that will contain the American visa must be more recent.

Steps to obtain the American visa for Bolivians
The steps to complete the American visa application in Bolivia are the following:
- First, the applicant must complete the Electronic Application for Nonimmigrant Visa «DS-160», then print the confirmation with the barcode for each of the applicants respectively.
- Then the applicant must visit the website, the Visa Appointment Services section to create a user with an email and password, where they will have to choose the category of the visa they want.
- You then need to select the address of the DHL location where you want to pick up your passport with visa after the interview.
- Pay the fee corresponding to visa fees (MRV payment) and finally schedule an appointment.
To carry out this step, you will need to have the current passport and previous passports (if applicable), in addition to the barcode of the DS-160 confirmation form of each of the applicants.

- Evidence of their employment or blood ties that prove the applicant’s trip and that also attest to the intention to return to Bolivia.
If, on the contrary, the applicant qualifies to make a remote appointment, then they will have to send only the required documents.
Non-Academic/Technical Student Visa Requirements:
- The educational institution will send the I-20 form issued by the student and exchange information system (SEVIS), this will be done once the faculty introduces the required student information into the SEVIS database. The I-20 form must include the signature of the student and the legal representative of the institution.
Note: if the students, their minor children and spouses who intend to reside in American territory must also register with SEVIS, each of the applicants will be given an I-20 form individually.

Length of stay in the US
