Steps and requirements for American visa Bolivia

The American visa is a document granted by the United States embassy in Bolivia and in other countries of the world to those who wish to enter United States territory, this is done with the purpose of controlling the entry and transit of immigrants in said country. The visa is granted to citizens according to the activity that they will carry out during a stipulated time.

Requirements for American visa in Bolivia

The general documents required for the application of any type of American visa in Bolivia are the following:

  1. Valid passport with at least six months validity or, failing that, the time spent in the United States must exceed six months (with the exception of those applicants who are exempt for some reason within the framework of specific agreements in their country).
  2. The international identification document (Passport) that will contain the American visa must be more recent.
  3. You must include among the documentation the visa application as a «non-immigrant» along with the confirmation form «DS-160» which will have to be printed from the web following the proper instructions.
  4. The applicant will have to take a color photograph with the measurements of 5 × 5 cm or, failing that, 2 × 2 inches, taken between the six months prior to the visa application.

5. The rest of the members of the immediate family circle must present a marriage certificate and/or birth certificate (valid for children under 21 and unmarried) as the case may be.

Note: If the applicant is chosen to send their documents via courier, they must attach to the documents the current passport along with the previous passport containing the most up-to-date US visa (as applicable), as well as the confirmation form «DS-160» and copies of Other documents requested or that justify your request or stay in the United States of America. Steps to obtain the American visa for Bolivians

The steps to complete the American visa application in Bolivia are the following:

  1. First, the applicant must complete the Electronic Application for Nonimmigrant Visa «DS-160», then print the confirmation with the barcode for each of the applicants respectively.
  2. Then the applicant must visit the website, the Visa Appointment Services section to create a user with an email and password, where they will have to choose the category of the visa they want.
  3. You then need to select the address of the DHL location where you want to pick up your passport with visa after the interview.
  4. Pay the fee corresponding to visa fees (MRV payment) and finally schedule an appointment.

To carry out this step, you will need to have the current passport and previous passports (if applicable), in addition to the barcode of the DS-160 confirmation form of each of the applicants.

student visa

The student visa is divided into the following according to the characteristics of the applicant.

Requirements for an academic or language student visa:

  1. Certificate of suitability for the status of non-immigrant non-academic, language or technical student with the specification (M-1 or F-1).
  2. The applicant must present an I-20 form that is generated through SEVIS, which will be provided to the student through the institution where he/she is studying. This form must be accompanied by the signature of the student applying for the visa and the legal representative of the educational institution.
  3. You must also bring the payment receipt for the SEVIS I-901 (student and exchange information system)

If the scheduled appointment is in person, a series of additional documents may be requested, which may be the following:

  1. The purpose of your trip
  2. The solvency to pay for your stay in the United States and if you cannot cover said expenses, you must present solvency that someone else will do it.
  3. Evidence of their employment or blood ties that prove the applicant’s trip and that also attest to the intention to return to Bolivia.

If, on the contrary, the applicant qualifies to make a remote appointment, then they will have to send only the required documents.

Non-Academic/Technical Student Visa Requirements:

  1. The educational institution will send the I-20 form issued by the student and exchange information system (SEVIS), this will be done once the faculty introduces the required student information into the SEVIS database. The I-20 form must include the signature of the student and the legal representative of the institution.

Note: if the students, their minor children and spouses who intend to reside in American territory must also register with SEVIS, each of the applicants will be given an I-20 form individually.

  • Present the job offer of the employer in the United States.
  • Approved and certified application issued by the Department of Labor (only applies to H1B1 visa applicants
  • The receipt number of the petition made, with which the approval of the same is recorded in Form I-129 for a nonimmigrant worker applicant.

Length of stay in the US

Depending on the type of visa requested, the citizen has a maximum stay time, for example: people with J-1 visas can enter 30 days before the start date of the program and once it ends they have a maximum period of stay of 30 days. People with F-1 or M-1 visas can enter the United States only 30 days before the start of the educational program and remain 60 days after its inspection in American territory. H visa holders can enter 10 days before their set date and stay only 10 days after the end of work. Tourists without a visa can stay for 90 days. Tourists with B2 visas generally 180 days.
