Requirements for a Mexican visa

There are several types of requests, for each of them here are the requirements:

VISITOR VISA WITHOUT PERMISSION TO CARRY OUT ACTIVITIES:

  • Submit the duly completed visa application.
  • Attach valid and current passport or identity and travel document, in original and copy (with a minimum validity of 6 months at the time of travel).
  • A color photograph, white background, bare face, without glasses, size 3 x 3.5 centimeters.
  • Original and copy of the document that proves your legal stay in Ecuador, as well as, where appropriate, identity card (in case the applicant is not Ecuadorian).
  • Prove any of the following assumptions:

  • Economic Solvency
  • Rooting

If you’re invited by an organization or a public or private institution, you must present:

  • Original of the responsive letter (INVITATION) from an organization or a public or private institution that invites the foreign person to participate in some unpaid activity in national territory.

STUDY VISA (LESS THAN 180 DAYS):

  • Submit the duly completed visa application.
  • Original and copy of an acceptance letter from an institution belonging to the National Educational System to carry out courses, studies or research projects or academic or professional training for a temporary period less than 180 days, on the institution’s letterhead.
  • Financial solvency to cover the amount of tuition and accommodation and living expenses during your stay in Mexican territory.

VISA TO PARTICIPATE IN AN EVENT SPONSORED OR SPONSORED BY THE FEDERAL PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, AS WELL AS BY THE AUTONOMOUS CONSTITUTIONAL BODIES:

  • Original of the letter of the agency or autonomous constitutional body that invites the foreign person to participate in an event derived from international commitments contracted by the Mexican State for the celebration of events.
  • Original of the letter or note from the institution of the sending country.
  • Payment of duties.

VISA FOR MINORS:

  • In the case of girls, boys, adolescents or people who are subject to legal protection under the terms of civil legislation: the visa application form must be signed by both parents or by whoever exercises parental authority or guardianship in the presence of the official or employee
  • If one of the parents does not appear physically at the consular office: whoever presents must carry a notarized authorization from the other parent stating their consent for the process.
  • If parental authority only corresponds to one of the parents by court ruling: a certified copy of the official document that determines it must be submitted.
  • If the minor goes alone or with a third party of legal age: they must present a document granted before a notary public or by an authority that has the power to do so, stating the authorization of both parents to carry out the procedure.

VISA FOR MINISTER OF CULT:

Foreign persons, ministers of worship or religious associates applying for a visa must present:

  • Employment certificate issued by the congregation or responsive letter issued by it and / or by a Mexican religious association.

VISITOR VISA WITHOUT PERMISSION TO CARRY OUT PAID ACTIVITIES (LONG TERM):

This visa applies to foreigners with broad economic solvency, frequent travelers, prominent people, spouse of a Mexican or temporary resident or permanent resident, relative of temporary resident or permanent resident, relative of diplomatic or consular official accredited in Mexico and supervisors of a foreign company with a subsidiary in national territory, among others.

Requirements:

  • Valid and current passport or identity and travel document, in original and copy (with a minimum validity of 6 months at the time of travel).
  • A color photograph.
  • Original and copy of the document that proves your legal stay in Ecuador –IF YOU ARE NOT ECUADORIAN (A).
  • Economic solvency.

MEXICAN FAMILY MEMBER:

As the case may be, the requirements will be:

  • Marriage certificate or concubinage certificate
  • Applicant’s birth certificate
  • Birth certificate of the Mexican child
  • Birth certificate of Mexican siblings

FAMILY MEMBER OF FOREIGN PERSON TEMPORARY RESIDENT OR PERMANENT RESIDENT:

You can submit any of these documents:

  • Marriage certificate or document that proves the cohabitation
  • Applicant’s birth certificate
  • Birth certificate of the foreign child
  • Birth certificate of Mexican siblings
  • Copy of the current temporary resident or permanent resident card of the foreign person with whom the bond by family unit is accredited.

FAMILY MEMBER OF A DIPLOMATIC OFFICER OR CONSULAR ACCREDITED IN MEXICO HOLDER OF ORDINARY PASSPORT:

  • Marriage certificate or concubinage certificate
  • Birth certificate of the foreign child
  • Birth certificate of Mexican siblings
  • Copy of the accreditation card of the diplomatic or consular official before the Government of Mexico.

ECUADORIAN DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT HOLDERS DO NOT REQUIRE A MEXICAN VISA FOR A PERIOD OF 3 MONTHS.

TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA:

Applicable to foreigners who intend to enter Mexico in the condition of temporary resident stay in order to stay for a time greater than 180 days and not greater than 4 years.

Requirements:

  • Passport or identity and travel document that is valid in accordance with international law
  • A photography
  • Original and copy of the document that proves their legal stay, if the foreign person is not a national of the country where the visa is requested.
  • Present the documents that prove any of the following assumptions: financial solvency, responsive letter (INVITATION) if applicable, family unit.

STUDENT TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA.- COURSES OF MORE THAN 180 DAYS.

Requirements:

  • Valid and current passport or identity and travel document, in original and copy (with a minimum validity of 6 months at the time of travel).
  • A photography
  • Original and copy of the document that proves your legal stay in Ecuador (IF YOU ARE NOT ECUADORIAN).
  • Prove any of the following assumptions: Verification of studies, financial solvency to cover the amount of tuition and accommodation expenses.

PERMANENT RESIDENCE VISA:

Applicable to foreigners who intend to intern as a permanent resident.

Requirements:

  • Valid and current passport or identity and travel document, in original and copy (with a minimum validity of 6 months at the time of travel).
  • A color photograph, white background, bare face, without glasses, size 3 x 3.5 centimeters.
  • Original and copy of the document that proves your legal stay in Ecuador (IF YOU ARE NOT ECUADORIAN).
  • Present the documents that prove any of the following assumptions: retired pensioners.

Economic Solvency

Financial solvencies generally must be supported by at least one of these two documents:

  • Original and copy of proof of investments or bank accounts with an average monthly balance equivalent to 150 days of the general minimum wage in force in the Federal District (approximately 602 USD), during the last three months.
  • Original and copy of the documents that demonstrate that you have a job, pension or scholarship with monthly income free of encumbrances greater than the equivalent of 100 days of the general minimum wage in force in the Federal District (approximately 401 USD, during the last three months.

In the case of Students:

Solvency may be accredited by the applicant, by his parents and in the event that he is greater of age, by his / her spouse, concubine or concubine or equivalent figure; or by whoever exercises parental authority or guardianship.

You can also present one of these documents:

  • A letterhead from the educational institution stating that you have been a recipient of a scholarship.
  • Document from a banking or financial institution that proves that it has the financing.

Public institutions and private institutions belonging to the National Educational System, they do not need to prove financial solvency.

People who are independent, who have their own business or carry out any economic activity, will need:

  • Present your RUC, which must be at least two years old.
  • Original and copy of proof of investments or bank accounts with an average monthly balance equivalent to USD 1,204.00, during the last three months.

Steps to apply for a Mexican visa

  • Make your request through the Web page of the Consulate.
  • Consult the type of visa you require, the costs and requirements necessary to obtain it.
  • Register as a new user or log in if you are already registered.
  • Scan the documents required for the type of visa you want to apply for.
  • Once you receive the validation from the Consulate, you must pay the fees.
  • Make an appointment at the Consulate.
  • Attend the appointment and present the original documentation that you scanned into the system and the original passport where the visa sticker will be placed.

Documents needed when traveling to Mexico

If you want to travel from Mexico to Ecuador, you should know that you can only enter up to 90 days without a visa in each chronological year, only for tourism reasons.

How to fill out visa form

The form consists of: Personal Information, Complementary Data, Information and Reason for the Trip, Minors, Documents that are attached to the application, place and date, Authorized Signatures.

Recommendations to acquire the Mexican visa

  • The issuance of the visa is subject to the consular interview and the visa itself does not guarantee the entry of the foreigner into Mexican territory.
  • The immigration rule establishes a time of 10 business days as the maximum term to resolve regarding immigration procedures.
  • Since the procedure is carried out through the Appointment system, it is convenient that you be punctual. Only 10 minutes of tolerance will be given and there will be no exceptions.
  • The appointments are individual and not by families or groups.
  • You must have an original and a copy of all documents in case the consular officer requests it.
  • Avoid acquiring air tickets or tourist packages before processing your visa, since this is not an endorsement for it to be granted to you.
