  • Certificate or letter from clients requesting the service or goods (original) with company stamp, class of service or, monthly amount to be received, name and signature of the applicant.
  • Performance bond between insurer and order manager (original + simple copy) or, failing that, certified copy (in case the original is not presented)
  • Proof of registration of the business in the Mayor’s Office (original + simple copy) or, failing that, certified copy (in case the original is not presented). Each Mayor’s Office issues a different document.
  • Harvest purchase / sale contract (original + simple copy) or, failing that, certified copy (in case the original is not presented)
  • Letter of purchase / sale of cattle issued by the Municipal Mayor’s Office (original + simple copy) or, failing that, certified copy (in case the original is not presented)
  • University degree, Certificate or Diploma that accredits the occupation or trade (original + simple copy)
    or, failing that, a certified copy (in the event that the original is not presented). If the title is issued abroad, it must be validated by the Ministry of Education.

If the profession, occupation or trade is recorded in the DUI, it is not necessary to present the aforementioned documentation.

  • Authorization to transport people (original + simple copy) issued by the Vice Ministry of Transport.
  • Vehicle registration card (original + simple copy), the vehicle must be a work document, or a document of sale (if the circulation card is not in your name), or a vehicle lease, if applicable.

  • Unique identity document (DUI) of the authorized person (original + simple copy) or, failing that, a certified copy (if the original is not presented), for Salvadorans or a passport (or resident card) for foreigners

For over 18 years

  • Information to complete the form in the presence of the citizen.
  • NIT payment receipt (original).
  • Receipt for electric power services (original + simple copy)
    or water or telephone, or failing that, the lease of the premises confirming the taxpayer’s notification address.
  • Unique Identity Document (DUI) of the individual merchant (original + plain copy)
    or, failing that, a certified copy (if the original is not presented) for Salvadorans or a passport (or resident card) for foreigners.

For those under 18 years of age

  • Information to complete the form in the presence of the citizen
  • NIT payment receipt (original)
  • Receipt for electric power services (original + simple copy)

What is the NIT?

The tax identification number (NIT) is a series of numbers or letters used to identify natural and legal persons subject to taxes.

Structure of the NIT

The NITs in El Salvador are made up of 14 numbers, which to facilitate reading are separated into hyphens as follows:

Meaning of the NIT

  • The first four digits indicate the code of the municipality of birth of the natural person or the legal person to which the NIT belongs was established. The NITs of Salvadorans start with 0 and 1. Those of those born abroad start with 9.
  • The next six digits indicate the date of birth of the natural person or date of incorporation of the legal person to which the NIT belongs. The date is written in the format DDMMYY (Day – Month – Year)
  • The next three digits are a running number
  • The last number is a verification digit which allows computer equipment to detect if the NIT was entered correctly.

NIT functions
