Requirements to renew passport

  • Passport expired or about to expire (6 Months)
  • Unique Identity Document (DUI) in original and a 150% enlarged copy.
  • Pay $ 25.00 dollars in the collectives located in our branches ($ 40 in Central America and $ 60 in the rest of the world).

For minors

  • Passport expired or about to expire
  • Certification of original birth certificate, in good condition, no more than one year after being issued.
  • Present both parents with their Unique Identification Document (DUI) in good condition and photocopies enlarged to 150%
  • If one of the parents does not appear, they must issue a power of attorney or specific authorization for passport processing before a Salvadoran notary or before the Salvadoran consul, duly authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, authorizing the person who will represent them.
  • In the case of the absence of both parents of the girl, boy or adolescent, the person accompanying them must present a notarized authorization with a legalized signature or by means of a power of attorney, granted by the parents, to obtain the passport.
  • In the event that one of the parents of the child or adolescent girl has died, they must present the death certificate in original and in good condition.

For seniors

  • Previous passport.
  • Unique Document of Identification (DUI) in good condition.
  • Retired Card.

Note

  • The passport photograph is taken in the office where you schedule the appointment to get the passport.
  • An officer will be able to help you fill out the form as the case may be or if it is previously requested.
  • Salvadoran citizens living abroad who never had their DUI will be able to make the butt of their DUI application and their resident card.
  • Citizens of dual nationality who have never had DUI, will be able to carry out the process with identity documents from the country where they have nationality and a DUI application stub.
  • If your passport was issued before 2006, you must present an original birth certificate in good condition.

For adults

  • Passport expired or about to expire (6 Months).

How often do you have to renew the passport?
