National Visa Form Format

Keep in mind that there are different types of visa. The national visa is useful if you plan a long-term stay for a particular purpose. In general, it may be granted to you for ninety (90) days.

Depending on what you need, you can expect a validity of up to one (1) year. Once you enter the country, you have to immediately apply for the national permanence title.

With the national visa you have three options of permanence:

  1. you can reside;
  2. also reside and work; and
  3. also, study or research in Spain.

It is important that you know that if you come from the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland, you will be exempt from this procedure.

We advise you to fill out the National visa form and you attach all the documentation required by Spain. So you will be enjoying a completely safe and legal stay.

Filling of the National Visa Form

Read the National Visa application form carefully. Right away, you will be able to fill it out properly, taking care to do it in capital letters and leaving it fully signed.

You need to paste in the upper right part of the form a recent color photo, size 3 × 4 cm, with a uniform white and smooth background, taken from the front and without a garment that prevents your identification.

Check your passport. It must not be expired, or due to expire before at least four (4) months. You must have at least three (3) unused pages. We suggest you have a photocopy of the identification page and those with stamps and / or visas.

Order your academic documents duly accredited (in original legalized and apostilled, with their respective copies).

You should never deliver an original document; its use is only to check the correspondence of the copies.

You must have the admission registration of a Spanish educational center, with official recognition, where you show the exact dates (day, month and year) of the beginning and end of the study period.

Have on hand the economic supports that show that you will be able to support yourself during your stay. Show that you have 100% of the IPREM.

If you have a scholarship, also present the respective contract on coverage and conditions.

It is necessary that you have an accommodation authorization in Spain during your time of stay (original and copy). It does not hurt that you have a photocopy of the Spanish identity document of the owner of the site you rented.

Have international health insurance for the duration of your obligations. Make sure that you comply with the necessary time (less than one hundred and eighty (180) days or one (1) year in studies) and with a minimum coverage, according to these items:

  • Help for sickness, with an amount of 30,000 euros.
  • Relief by accident, for 30,000 euros.
  • Health and funeral repatriation, for 30,000 euros or included

Additionally, it is good that you have a reservation of the air ticket, round trip (original and copy).

It also verifies that you have the legalized criminal record certificate (for those over 18 years of age) from the country of origin, with a maximum age of three (3) months (original and copy).

Be concerned about having the legalized and apostilled medical certificate up to date, with a maximum age of three (3) months (original and copy). It emphasizes that you do not suffer from a disease with repercussions for public health.

If you have a spouse and children under 18 years of age, it is essential that you know that they must comply with the steps and requirements that you are carrying out and the documentation that proves relationship.

You must also demonstrate that you have sufficient financial means to support your family group (755 of the IPREM for the first family member and 50% of the IPREM for each of the remaining family members).

Usefulness of the National Visa Form

With the national visa form you can achieve your legal entry to a foreign country and a long-term stay, depending on the purpose of your trip.

You must be guided by the regulations, procedures and conditions of issuance of these visas located in the Organic Law 4/2000.

You can download the national visa form for free from the website of the Diplomatic Missions or Consular Offices of Spain abroad. This procedure is strictly personal.

You can only have a representative to carry out this procedure, if it is a family reunification of minors or when you can witness exceptional circumstances.

It is important that you know that you must pay the amount established to request the visa (€ 60 in general).

We must alert you that, If your visa application is denied, the money will not be refunded .

You must be ready to consult in the Diplomatic Mission or Consular Office where you request the visa, the existence of additional requirements according to the type of visa and your country of origin.

It is useful for you to know that the maximum deadline, not extendable, to notify decisions on national visa applications will be one (1) month from the day after you requested it.

When your visa has been issued, you must withdraw it from the Diplomatic Mission or Consular Office where the application was submitted. Remember that you must remove it yourself.

If you are denied a visa, investigate the possibility of activating a contentious-administrative appeal before the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid. You can also request an appeal for reconsideration before the same Diplomatic Mission or Consular Office.

Another usefulness of the national visa is that you can move freely through the territory of the other Schengen States for a maximum of three (3) months. As long as you meet the following entry conditions:

  1. you must have valid travel documents that allow you to cross the border;
  2. has the respective justification of the purpose of the trip, the conditions of the planned stay and the subsistence required;
  3. try not to constitute a threat to public order, internal security, public health or international relations.

If you obtain a visa for more than six months, you must obtain the foreign identity card during the first month after entering Spain.

If you are the holder of a residence and work visa, rejoice, you will be spared from completing the identity card process.

Who needs it?

The national visa form is aimed at all foreigners who wish to travel to Spain.

If you come from a country that is not on the list of countries subject to the visa requirement for crossing the external borders for stays in the Schengen Area, you will be exempt from the national visa.

As it is a permit for you, you must carry out this procedure personally at the Consulate General of Spain and it is necessary that you request an appointment in advance.

Who Issues It?

As you already know, the national visa is a procedure that you must do personally.

To do this, you must go to a Spanish Consulate, which is the entity responsible for issuing it.

When you receive the notification from the consular authorities that you have been granted the visa, you must collect it within one month (1) from its granting.

IMPORTANT
If you do not withdraw it within that period, the Consulate will believe that you renounced the visa and will proceed to archive your file.

The validity of your visa will always be less than that of your passport or the travel document on which it is issued.

Consider that, in the case of residence visas, you must submit the application in the same way at the corresponding Spanish consulate.

Then, you will have to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Government Delegation, where you must apply for your residence abroad.

  • You have a residence permit, a provisional residence permit or a diplomatic accreditation card, issued by the respective authorities and are valid when you apply to enter Spain.
